This imposing gothic style church building in the city lies at the heart of the largest parish in the diocese, with over 2,700 people on average attending Mass each week.
The parish is a longstanding supporter of CAFOD and for some 26 years, Miss Green was the parish organiser or ‘fundraiser’ as she calls herself, raising thousands of pounds to help people living in poverty around the world, through a variety of schemes. Her enthusiasm and the support of other parishioners means the parish is always looking for new ways to donate through CAFOD to help other people. There were Miss Green’s soirées around the piano and now there are bring-and-share meals. Donations from the morning coffees and the first Friday breakfasts are also given to CAFOD.
The parish has donated:
£2,804 for the last Harvest Fast Day Collection. | Average Donation = £1.00
£7,451 for the Lent Appeal. | Average Donation = £2.67
