By pouring this ointment on my body she has prepared me for burial. (Matthew 26:12)
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you;
Because by your Cross and precious Blood you have redeemed the world.
“Here in Puentecitos, we want to improve our house of prayer”, explains Fidel. “It is very small and it gets crowded. In an emergency, when it floods and the earth quakes, we use the church as a place of refuge. But we didn’t really have the courage to start rebuilding because it is expensive.”
“Then, last year, we began talking to people about the project to see if we could work together. Some families were really poor, but still they gave their offering. People with very little money supported us.”
The donations of others encouraged them and turned their assumptions around: “We began to see what we could do, and so we asked ourselves, ‘Why can’t we do the project we dreamt of?'”.
Stepping out from the crowd, Veronica wipes the sweat, toil and tears from your face.
God of grace, throughout your ministry you took and blessed the ordinary, transforming it beyond price. May we treasure those simple gifts and acts of concern for others which may, through your grace, transcend us beyond the daily grind.
