Haiti Appeal Update

The response to the earthquake in Haiti has been huge – CAFOD have received over £4.5 million!

People in the East Anglia diocese have been very generous.  As of the 11th of March, over £75, 000 has come in from the diocese.  Special mention must go to the parishes of Our Lady and St John, Sudbury, who have raised £5,210 and Our Lady and the English Martyrs, Cambridge, who have given over £6,200.

The money raised by individuals, schools and parishes will be used to support life-saving humanitarian relief, distributing food, water, tents and medical help to the most vulnerable.  Just £25 would buy an emergency shelter kit, including tarpaulin, rope and nails for a family who were made homeless; and £30 would feed them for a week.  Caritas has distributed emergency shelter kits to over 60,000 people since the earthquake struck.

The main CAFOD blog (http://blog.cafod.org.uk) has frequent updates on the situation.  You can also recieve updates by becoming a fan of CAFOD on facebook or twitter.
